#Austria: Aich/Dob Austrian champion for the third time

Yesterday evening SK Posojilnica Aich / Dob was elected for the third time after 2013 and 2018 Austrian volleyball champion: the reigning champion won at the home court the Game 5 of DenizBank AG VL finals against Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel, in straight sets (29:27, 25:21, 25:20) closing the “Best of 7” series 4:1.

Good performance also for the rivals, which proved to be a worthy and strong opponent, but it wasn’t enough. After the 0:3 victory in Zwettl nothing to do for Waldviertel: yesterday lot of service errors and in reception, despite a very excellent first set, in which Aich/Dob manged to take a great come-back in its spectacular last points, after three missed set ball: 29:27 was the final result.
The second set was balanced at the start, so Waldviertel flied on 15:11, but once again in this final series, they did not manage to haldle the tension. Thanks to a service series by Matej Mihajlovic Aich/Dob suddenly led 21:19 and they could close the set 25:21.
Unlike the first two sets, the home side start very strong the third: Aich/Dob moved from 7:7 to 14 8 and did not leave Waldviertel in the match. After 85 minutes Mihajlovic closed the first match ball to 25:20, taking the third championship title in club history.

Some numbers? Top scorers of the match on the winning side were Matej Mihajlovic with 21 points, followed by Matej Kök with 13 and Federico Franetovich with 8. For Waldviertel Dawid Siwczyk scored 17 points, Lukasz Szarek 9 and Lars Bornemann 7. Attack points 46:33, Aces 5:4, winning-blocks 8:10, errors 21:20.
