After this premise, which seems to come from a mediocre television commercial, we can return serious: for the first time in the history of the Men’s Champions League, the same two teams will play the final two years in a row. Also the last year, Zenit Kazan and Lube Civitanova fought for the title in the Final Four, played in Kazan, with Vladimir Alekno’s team that prevailing by in the tie-break in one of the best Champions League gold medal battles of all times, ended with this scores 29:27, 18:25, 23:25, 25:23, 17:15. Since there are no more Final Fours, starting from this season, these two top teams will write the new chapter of the history in the strongest club competition in Europe as the participants of the first edition of the Super Final.

After the great satisfaction of Tuesday when we won an incredible championship with a performance that is a combination of both heart and character, we’re getting back to the positive and concentrated work. Now, in fact, we expect another great goal to reach, the Champions League: we play one game against Kazan, the same rivals from a year ago. We know the strength of the Russian team but I’m convinced that we will do our best on the court, putting into practice the volleyball that we know how to express so that we can be able to give another great joy to all the fans who will follow us and those left in Italy,“ Lube middle-blocker (and captain) Dragan Stanković said.

In a sold-out Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, which means more than 9,000 spectators, Zenit will have the chance to win the Champions League trophy for the seventh time in club’s history, while the italian rivals will try to join the group of 12 clubs who won the title in the tournament more than once.
