WAGNER MEMORIAL: León top-scorer for Poland in victory over Serbia, Brazil destroy Finland

Volleyball national teams of Poland and Brazil recorded victories on Day 1 of the 17th Memorial of Hubert Jerzy Wagner in Kraków.

Poland beat Serbia in four sets (25:22, 25:18, 22:25, 25:22) in the first match of the traditional Wagner Memorial, a tournament that is held in the memory of the Polish Volleyball coach, Hubert Jerzy Wagner. It will also serve as an ultimate test for these 4 national teams competing in it for the FIVB International Qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Wilfredo León was the top scorer for Poland with 20 points, including the final ace that brought the victory to his team. Uroš Kovačević and Aleksandar Atanasijević scored 20 points each for Serbia.

In the other match of the opening day, Brazil defeated Finland in straight sets and will meet the hosts of Poand in the next match. Flávio Gualberto and Douglas Souza scored 9 points each for the winning side, while Samuli Kaislasalo was Finland’s top scorer with 5 points…
