The France Volleyball National Team suffered a huge blow, two days prior to the start of European Olympic Qualifications in Berlin, Germany scheduled for January 5/10: Stéphen Boyer is out of the definive team for the competition!
France starting opposite StĂ©phen Boyer definitely wonât compete in the Olympic qualification tournament, LâĂquipe reported. After the injury of 2 outside hitters earlier, Thibault Rossard (left foot) and TrĂ©vor ClĂ©venot (back), a 3rd goodbye has happened to France National team. Boyer withdrew from the team for personal reasons and the head coach Laurent Tillie accepted his explanations.
âThings are clear, I still want to play for France and I hope to be present this summer. It hurts me not to be able to come and help my teammates in Berlin but thatâs how it is,â the 23-year-old player said, not mentioning a single word regarding the rumors of an incident with Earvin Ngapeth after the last EuroVolley.
However, good news for the fans of France is that 2 players whose participation in the qualification tournament was uncertain will play after all: KĂ©vin Tillie, whose wife has just given birth in Warsaw, Poland, will join the squad tomorrow and the injury of Julien Lyneel isnât that serious and heâll also be at the disposal of the head coach Laurent Tillie.
The final list of France for the Olympic Qualifications:
Setters: Benjamin Toniutti (captain), Antoine Brizard.
Middle blockers: Kévin Le Roux, Nicolas Le Goff, Barthélémy Chinenyeze, Daryl Bultor
Opposites: Jean Patry, Julien Winkelmuller
Outside hitters: Earvin Ngapeth, Kévin Tillie, Julien Lyneel, Yacine Louati, Timothée Carle.
Libero: Jénia Grebennikov.
