The biggest star of the German volleyball in the last decade, Georg Grozer, is currently engaged with the national team at the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in his countryās capital, Berlin. This was a chance for German media to ask him some questions regarding his career objectives in the coming yearsā¦.
Thus, he revealed in an interview for Tagesspiegel that heās thinking about a possible return to playing in Germany, more specifically to Berlin Recycling Volleys, at the end of his career. The last time he played in Germany was 10 years ago, when he wore the jersey of Berlinās fiercest rivals VfB Friedrichshafen.
āDefinitely, I would be very happy to play in Berlin someday but that still takes time. I still feel fit and believe that Iām still good enough for the level in Russia and Italy. Berlin has a very good team but, of course, doesnāt have the financial resources like Russian or Italian teams,ā the 35-year-old opposite said.
Berlin President Kaweh Niroomand didnāt remain silent on these words of a German legend.
āI read this with great pleasure. This is a huge recognition for the work that weāve done here in Berlin in recent years. I also looked briefly at his age and thought that it should be soon,ā he said jokingly, and admitted that no team in Germany could pay Grozer the money that he makes in Russiaā¦.
