CEV reveals calendar for 2021 EuroVolley Qualifiers and changes format

The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) unveiled the schedule for the 2021 EuroVolley Qualifiers for both men’s and women’s, which will be modified in case the situation with the coronavirus pandemic continues.
Initially, qualifications were scheduled for late August and early September 2020. However, according to the new schedule, only a small number of matches will be taking place in that period as most matches are postponed to early January 2021.
Due to the many restrictions still in place across Europe due to the coronavirus pandemic and in order to reduce trips for teams, the CEV changed the competition format a bit. Namely, originally planned home and away matches in each pool will be replaced with tournaments, each hosted by one nation.

A total of 12 teams per gender will qualify from those tournaments to the EuroVolley Final Rounds, joining the four organizers and eight teams already qualified as per the final standing of the 2019 edition. This means that, in the men’s competition, 7 pool winners plus 5 runners-up will qualify for the Final Round. As for women, 6 pool winners and all 6 runners-up will make it to the EuroVolley.
