Mevza: Mladost leave no chance to Aich/Dob

1 min read

In the first MEVZA League match this week, Croatia’s multiple national champions Mladost Zagreb needed just 68 minutes to celebrate a clear victory (25:17, 25:17, 25:16) over SK Zadruga AICH/DOB from Austria on home soil.
While the hosts improved their win-loss record to 1-1 and moved up to the third place in the current standing, Austria’s side suffered their second setback in their third match they have contested so far. Konstantin Cupkovic and Tomislav Mitrasinovic top scored for Mladost Zagreb with 17 and 9 points respectively, while AICH/DOB’s Victor Hugo Miranda de Alcantara scored 9 on the other side.

Mladost Zagreb head coach Davor Meringer: “I am satisfied with the way my team played today. We have exactly carried out what we had talked about before. My players seemed more motivated and concentrated than our opponents were. I hope it goes on like this!

AICH/DOB’s head coach Matjaz Hafner: “Congratulations to the Mladost ZAGREB players on their convincing win. They were highly motivated – very probably because they had suffered a home loss in their MEVZA League opener against Merkur MARIBOR a week ago”.

The next Mevza League match is scheduled for Saturday night, when last season’s bronze medallists Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel from Austria will welcome Calcit Kamnik from Slovenia in their home court in Zwettl.
