Poland: Jastrzębski Węgiel part ways with Reynolds, Gardini new head coach

1 min read

Jastrzębski Węgiel informed that they parted ways with their head coach, Australian Luke Reynolds. The Polish side explained that the reason for this decision was the “unsatisfactory level of the team’s performance, the unstable form of the team fighting for the highest goals, as well as unsatisfactory sports results in 2021.”

Soon afterward, Jastrzębski announced that they appointed Andrea Gardini. Italian expert is quite familiar with working in Poland given he was at the helm of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn (2014 – 2017) and Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle (2017 – 2019). He started the season as a head coach of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in his home country but left the post in September.

At the moment, the Jastrzębie-Zdrój team occupies second place in the PlusLiga standings but has suffered already three defeats in January. Jastrzębski added that until the appointment of the new head coach, the team will be commanded by Reynolds’ assistant Leszek Dejewski.
