Poland destroys Serbia to win Eurovolley 2021 bronze medal!
2 min readBRONZE FOR POLAND!
After Saturday’s semifinals, in which Poland lost to Slovenia and Serbia was defeated by Italy, both 1-3, the hosts Poland defeat Serbia in straight sets to claim a third place at CEV Eurovolley 2021.
Poland basically dominates in all elements, with 9 winning blocks (against the only 2 of Serbia), from the service line (6-4), but also in attack (53% vs. 44%).
Wilfredo Leon was the most prolific player for the winners with 14 points, including one ace and 3 winning blocks, while Marko Ivovic was the only player in double digit on the other side of the net, with 10 points.
Åukasz Kaczmarek, opposite of Poland: “We played a very good game today and Serbia was not in the best shape today. We defended very well, we were good in the block, maybe service was not our strongest weapon, but it was not enough to win a bronze medal and we are very happy about this medal, because after yesterday’s match we managed to get back on track and add another medal to our showcase.”
Aleksandar AtansijeviÄ, opposite of Serbia: “Poland was just better tonight. During the entire tournament they played well, they finished pool phase first and easily went through to the next rounds, but only lost to Slovenia yesterday. Today they showed that on paper they have the strongest team in the world and a big respect for the Polish fans.”
