In big match of the day, the first of this Round (today Arkas – Ziraat), Galatasaray prevailed over Fenerbahçe in four sets in the biggest sporting derby of Turkey. The match was valid for the Round 6 of the 2021/22 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi. After a first set dominated with 5 aces, Castellani’s side surrendered and Galatasaray can take advantage with Subaşı (11/13 in attack in second set) and then also woth Torres e Sedlacek.
Burutay Subaşı was the most prolific player of the match, scoring 19 points for Galatasaray.
After the defeat of Fenerbahçe, only one team can boast its invincibility, and this is Halkbank. The Ankara side kept this status by prevailing in the second five-setter in a row, by beating winless Altekma harder than anyone could have expected. Cuban Fernando Hernández has returned among the Halkbank starters after he missed the first four matches due to an injury, and put down 25 points, while Canadian Graham Vigrass and Efe Bayram set up four blocks each.
About the other match, Yeni Kiziltepe Spor surprisingly defeats a very disappointing Spor Toto (still without Gungor), due also a bad day of opposite Buchegger, with only 3/19, 3 errors and 2 blocked.
Tie break win for Sorgun: 3-2 over Bursa in direct clash at the middle of charts. Close the picture 3-1 by Cizre (without starting opposite Coskun) over Solhan (without Grozdanov, on the bench, but Miskevich back on the starting six and young Omurca fielded as outside-hitter).
