Italy: Piacenza destroy Milano in Game 1 for 3rd Place

And today started the best-of-five series for third place, in which the winners will take a ticket for next edition of Champions League, and the other will play in CEV Cup.

In Game 1 No.6 in regular season Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, eliminated in Semifinal Game 5 against Trento despite a great comeback from 2-0 in the series, literally destroyed No.8 Allianz Milano who, after eliminating absolute leaders Perugia in Quarterfinals, touched the final after losing to Civitanova a historical semifinal, wasting a 2-1 lead in the series to collapse in Game 5 too.
Today’s game ended in just three sets (25:17, 25:16, 25:22) and after 1 hours and 23 minutes of play, with the hosts who take the control of the game from start to finish.

First two sets were literally dominated, with a very good Yuri Romanò, who ended with 88% and 60% in attack respectively, (15 points for him at the end of the game), as well as a great performance from
the service line and in blocking too. Piacenza started in a perfect way also in third set, with a clear 5-0, until a heavy 18-10.

No, as Milano finally react, until they managed to impact the score, 21-21. But the hosts disagree and, with a break of 4-1 with 2 monster blocks in a row win Game 1.
Decisive Simon, who close the game with 11 points, a great 71% in attack and 5 blocks, followed by Lucarelli (10 points and 73% in attack) and Caneschi, 7 points but with great numbers too with his 71% in attack.
Patry with 10 points was the only player in double digit in a disappointing Milano, who will face
the same rivals in Game 2 on Wednesday, in front of their home fans.
