Poland: Jastrzębski Węgiel Champions of Poland! ZAKSA defeated in just 3 Games!

After just three games, and after a straight sets and a four sets win in Game 1 and Game 2, Jastrzębski Węgiel easily defeated titleholders Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle also in decisive Game 3, and they did it after just 77 minutes of play!
It was enough, in fact, another clear 3-0 (25:15, 25:16, 25:13) to crown the team from Jastrzębie Zdrój Champions of Poland for third time in club’s history after the successes of 2003/04 and and 2020/21 seasons.
In front of their home fans, at the end of the series that is worth also as a preview of this season’s Champions League Superfinal, the winners literally dominated the game, leaving only 34 points to the rivals (and, with the only exception of Lukasz Kaczmarek, top scorer for ZAKSA with 10 points but with only 42% and 11% efficiency in attack,
no players in double digit).
Decisive, in addition to a great team performance, also an excellent performance in blocking with 14 points from this element, 6 from the played named MVP of game, Jurij Gladyr, who also contributed with 2 aces and 80% in attack (4/5), but also other the French duo ended the game in double digit: ttop scorer Stephen Boyer, with 15 points to his name through 53% in attack, 3 winning blocks and 2 aces too, and Trevor Clevenot, author of 12
points, 56% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace.
But, despite losing the title, and the conclusion of this exciting edition of Plusliga, the season didn’t end here, as the 9 time Polish Champions Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle will have the chance to take revenge on Saturday 20th May in Turin, Italy, where they will face the same rivals again in the Champions League Superfinal.
ZAKSA boast two Champions League titles in their history, and they won the competition in both 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons (both editions against the same rivals, Italy’s Itas Trentino).
