After first two games played yesterday, 2023/24 CEV Challenge Cup Round of 16 continued today with other four matches.
Italyâs Mint Vero Volley Monza managed to win in Greece, on the field of Panathinaikos Athens, at tie break 2-3 (25:21, 18:25, 25:22, 18:25, 9:15), despite the absences of Maar, Di Martino and newcomer Mujanovic. The winners, led in score by Arthur Szwarc (22 points through 58% in attack, with 3 aces and 1 block), were better above all from the service line, scroring 10 aces compared to the hostsâ 3.
No problems for Projekt Warszawa, who easily defeated Franceâs Saint Nazaire VB Atlantique with a clear 3-0 (25:14, 25:16, 25:18) after just 67 minutes of play. The team from Polandâs capital was better in all elements, led by the only player in double digit of the match, Igor Grobelny, who scored 10 points including 1 block, 1 ace and 67% in attack.
The same did Spainâs Pamesa Teruel, who trampled over Hungaryâs MĂĄv Foxconn SzĂŠkesfehĂŠrvĂĄr with the same result, 3-0 (25:14, 25:18, 25:21), with 13 winning blocks, 13 points from top scorer Emilio Ferrandez and 11 from Mauro Zelayeta.
The last team who made the first step towards quarterfinals is Turkeyâs Galatasaray HDI Istanbul, who won in four sets in Hungary, on the field of PĂŠnzĂźgyĂśr SE Budapest â 1-3 (25:23, 19:25, 14:25, 20:25), with 11 aces and 16 points apiece from Jan Hadrava and Miran Kujundzic.
