In an exciting game of the CEV Champions League played today, defending champions Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle overcame injury challenges to secure a 2-3 (20:25, 25:21, 25:23, 22:25, 10:15) away win against Belgian Knack Roeselare.
This victory, seasoned with the return of Marcin Janusz and Bartosz Bednorz, confirmed their second place in Pool A.
Meanwhile, in Pool B, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów faced an excellent rivals, the current italian champions Itas Trentino, at home.
Despite leading in the second set, Rzeszów succumbed after a clear 0-3 (21:25, 24:26, 20:25) loss, marking their second defeat in the competition and dropping them to third in Pool standings.
In the same pool, French team Tours VB clinched a 1-3 (25:22, 23:25, 23:25, 18:25) win on the field of ACH Volley Ljubljana, propelling them towards the Champions League playoffs. Brazilian Aboubacar Drame Neto with 23 points and Estonian Märt Tammearu, who also contributed with 15, together with a strong performance in blocking (12 to 6) led Tours to the victory.
In Pool C, Gas Sales Daico Piacenza triumphed over Berlin Recycling Volleys 3-1, ensuring their top position with 17 points from Yuri Romanó and 13 winning blocks (6 only from Robertlandy Simon).
Finally, in Pool D, Polish champions and last season runners-up Jastrzębski Węgiel rallied from an initial setback to defeat SVG Luneburg 1-3 (25:23, 21:25, 15:25, 13:25) in Germany, maintaining their undefeated status and leading position. Spanish team CV Guaguas Las Palmas also secured a 3-1 (25:17, 24:26, 25:16, 25:21) win at home against VK Jihostroj Ceske Budejovice from Czech Republic.
