In a closely contested match, PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów secured a hard-fought victory over Barkom-Każany Lwów, clinching the win with a scoreline of 2-3, partially 22:25, 26:24, 16:25, 25:20, and 10-15, despite 25 points from a great Vasyl Tupchii, who had an impressive 25 points to his name, well supported by Ilia Kovalov with 18 points, Oleh Shevchenko with 14, and Moussé Gueye with 12. On the winning side, PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów Dawid Konarski led the score with 24 points. Bartłomiej Lemański with 15 points, Mateusz Poręba scoring 13, and Adrian Aciobanitei with 11 points also made significant contributions.
Setter Grzegorz Łomacz was named the Most Valuable Player of a match in which Bełchatów also had a great performance in blocking, scoring as many as 15 points from this element compared to the hosts’8.
In another match played today, after the unexpected defeat on the field of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, a couple of days ago, Projekt Warszawa triumphed over Exact Systems Hemarpol Częstochowa with a 3-1 victory (25:21, 23:25, 25:19, 25:21) and temporarily back to the top of the standings at +2 from Jastrzębski Węgiel, who will play on the field of Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle tomorrow.
Bartłomiej Bołądź played an outstanding performance for the winners, accumulating a total of 28 points and securing the title as absolute top scorer of the match with 5 of his team’s 11 aces, 1 block and 63% in attack, while Artur Szalpuk also played a pivotal role by adding 20 points including 3 aces and 4 winning blocks. Despite a valiant effort, Exact Systems Hemarpol Częstochowa fell short, with Dawid Dulski leading their score with 20 points to his name.
Round 15 will continue tomorrow with the above mentioned clash between Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Jastrzębski Węgiel while, in the second one, Trefl Gdańsk will welcome Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in an exciting clash between No.4 and No.5 in the standings.
