CEV Cup: Resovia and Arkas Izmir take first step towards final

Field advantage respected in both semifinals of 2023/24 CEV Cup, with victories for Asseco Resovia Rzeszów and Arkas Izmir.
The Polish side celebrated a 3-1 (25:12, 25:17, 22:25, 25:21) win over Turkey’s Fenerbahçe PRL Istanbul, who tried to reopen the game after two one-sided sets, to eventually collapsed in fourth one. Stellar the performance from the service line for Resovia, who scored as many as 16 aces, 7 only from a great Stéphen Boyer (22 points through 60% in attack).
Klemen Cebulj struggled in attack and reception, but contributed with 3 aces and, above all, was decisive in blocking with 6 points from this element.
On the other side of the net double digit only for Drazen Luburic with 20 points, 1 ace and 51% in attack.

Fenerbahçe’s compatriots Arkas Izmir close their game in straight sets (27:25, 25:23, 25:20) against SVG Lüneburg, but it wasn’t an easy game, as the Germans surrendered to first set only over time, and wasted a conspicuous lead (9-14, 15-18 and 20-22) in the second one. 14 points apiece for Burutay Subasi (65% in attack) and Georg Grozer (55%) while, among the guests, the most. prolific player was Xander Ketrzynski with 13.
Second leg games are scheduled between Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 February.
