Two men’s Cups has been completed so far with two great victories for Poland, and this has happened for the first time in the history of European competitions, also because this is the first time ever that a Polish team has managed to win the CEV Cup!
After Challenge Cup, well-deservedly won by Projekt Warszawa, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów did it, in front of 4300 delirious home fans and after a clear straight sets win in first leg in Germany against SVG Lüneburg: immediately they won the two sets needed to take home the trophy, starting a long celebration which lasts until the conclusion of the third and now useless partial.
The Germans, on the other hand, played all their chances in an hard-fought first set, in which they failed to take advantage from their set point at 23-24. And then they fell under the blows of the hosts’ serve, which limited the rivals to a worrying 23% of positive receptions and also an impressive performance in blocking, scoring as many as 16 winning blocks from this element! Stéphen Boyer is almost unstoppable, scoring 14 points in two sets with 71% in attack and 4 winning blocks, and this was also the victory of his compatriot Yacine Louati but also of the Polish national teams, of the past and present, including volleyball stars like Fabian Drzyzga, Karol Klos, Jakub Kochanowski and Pawel Zatorski, without forgetting American Torey Defalco, recovered for the decisive phase of the season after a long absence due to injury, today author of 7 points.
