Round 3 of Russian Superleague 2024/25 has been completed today with the win of Dynamo Moscow on the field of Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, 1-3 (25:22, 22:25, 25:27, 15:25), and their consequent second place in the current charts with 9 points, together with Zenit St. Petersburg, who celebrated a clear win on the field of Dynamo LO – 0-3 (14:25, 20:25, 21:25) on Tuesday.
Novosibirsk started strongly, taking the first set 25-22, with solid performances from Ozhiganov and Kurbanov. However the winners, led by standout player Denis Bogdan, who scored 17 points, quickly regained control, winning the next three sets. The third set proved crucial, with Dynamo pulling ahead after a tight battle, eventually winning 27-25.
Despite Lokomotiv’s efforts, including a 16-point performance from Rajabdibir Shakhbanmirzaev, Dynamo’s experience, particularly from Tsvetan Sokolov, secured the final set 25-15.
Behind them with 8 points Zenit Kazan, who also secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Kuzbass Kemerovo, on Monday.
The reigning champions overpowered their rivals with set scores of 25:23, 25:16, and 25:14 and, from the start, they controlled the game, excelling in both serves and attacks.
Only in first set, their efficiency with 50% success rate outclassed Kuzbass’s 32%. Dmitry Volkov’s key plays and Roman Romanovsky’s ace extended Zenit’s lead and, despite a late comeback by the team from Kemerovo, led by captain Roman Pakshin, Zenit held firm to take the first set 25-23.
In the second set, Zenit’s aggressive serves, including aces from Kirill Klets and Mikhail Labinskii, widened the gap to 17-7, ultimately sealing the set 25-16. Kuzbass struggled to re-open the game, hindered by their own errors.
The third set followed a similar pattern, with Kazan dominating from the very start. Strong blocks and consistent attacks kept the pressure on the rivals, and Zenit Kazan closed the match 25-14, claiming a comfortable victory.
On Sunday, in an intense five-set match, Yenisei Krasnoyarsk triumphed over Nova Novokuybyshevsk 3-2 (25:16, 23:25, 29:27, 29:31, 15:8). Yenisei’s serving power and blocks made the difference in a very hard-fought game, with Semyon Dmitriev’s 22 points leading his team. Nova Novokuybyshevsk fought fiercely, led by Egor Feoktistov’s impressive 29.
Meanwhile, Dynamo-Ural defeated ASK Nizhny Novgorod 3-1 (25:17, 25:11, 21:25, 25:16), powered by Roman Potalyuk’s 27 points and strong performance in blocking.
In another clash, Neftyanik Orenburg bested MGTU Moscow 3-1 (41:39, 25:18, 19:25, 25:16), with Mikhail Khlyakin and Ilya Spodobets leading the charge in a marathon first set victory.
Close the picture the 3-1 (25:21, 25:17, 28:30, 25:20) home win pf Fakel Novyi Urengoy over Gazprom-Yugra Surgut.
