Austria: all results of Round 17 – penultimate of regular season!

Round 17 of 2024/25 powerfusion VL Men has been completed today with the clash between UVC Holding Graz and Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel, won by the home team with the score of 3-1 (25:22, 20:25, 25:21, 25:23), to confirm fifth place in the standings.
On Saturday, defending Champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team is just one win away from a perfect regular season as they won 3-0 (25:21, 29:27, 25:22) against third-placed UVC McDonald’s Ried in the penultimate round to go into the final game next Saturday against UVC Holding Graz with the maximum number of points and only 3 sets lost.
Ried was ahead 24:21 in the second set, but was unable to convert any of the four set balls while the Innsbruck side, on the other hand, used their third opportunity to take a 2-0 lead and left nothing to chance. Top scorers in front of 800 fans in the Raiffeisen Volleydome were Borys Zhukov (12) and Maximilian Schober (7) and Kyle Hobus (15) and Niklas Kronthaler (13) for the winners.
SK Zadruga Aich/Dob kept the chance of third place alive, winning against runners-up TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg in just three sets (25:20, 25:20, 25:22). The 2024 cup winners have the same points and sets as Ried, but they suffered one more defeat.
Aich/Dob will visit Amstetten in the last round, while Innviertler Hartberg. Top scorers in the JUFA Arena Bleiburg were Bryan Camino Martinez (15) and Carlos Charles Santana (13) for the winners, Lukas Glatz (15) and Đorđe Knezevic (7)
for visiting side.
TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien secured the last playoff ticket with a 3-0 (25:17, 25:15, 25:20) home win over last-placed VBK Kelag Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt. They will face the HYPO TIROL volleyball team in the quarterfinals, while other playoff pairings have not yet been decided.
Close the picture VCA Amstetten NÖ who defeated newcomers Sportunion z+p St. Pölten 3-2 (25:20, 18:25, 25:21, 19:25, 15:12) away in the last game of the evening. Thanks to the two points, they can no longer be pushed out of 7th place, while the home team had no chance of making the playoffs even before the game started, as they have to go into the relegation together with Klagenfurt.
