Quarterfinals of 2024/25 Coupe de France has been completed today with the name of four semifinalists, Chaumont, Montpellier, Toulouse and Tourcoing, who won their respective games all in straight sets!
All easy for Chaumont, who easily won on the field of Ligue B side Saint Jean D’Illac with the score of 0-3 (21:25, 13:25, 14:25) after just 1 hour and 10 minutes of play.
Jacob Pasteur led the charge with 14 points to his name through 67% in attack and 2 winning blocks, but double digit also for Pierre Toledo and Mathis Henno, who added 12 and 11, respectively.
A major upset, however, come from Montpellier, where the hosts down Tours 3-0 (25:18, 27:25, 25:20).
The winners, in Coupe De France final also last season, defeated by Nantes in Paris, made the difference above all in blocking, scoring 10 points from this element compared to the rivals’ only 2, and were led in score by Dimitar Dimitrov, the most prolific player of the match with 16 points to his name through 44% in attack, 1 block and 3 aces, MVP Ezequiel Palacios, who also contributed with 13, 1 ace, 2 blocks and 56% in attack and a great Nicolas Le Goff, who added 11 through 73% in attack and 3 blocks.
Roland Gergye was the only player in double digit for Tours.
Strong performance also for Tourcoing, who sweep Poitiers 3-0 (25:19, 25:19, 27:25), struggling only on third set, ended overtime.
With 13 winning blocks (4 for the visiting side) and a great team performance in attack (63% to 45%), Pablo Koukatsev and Ignacio Luengas led the charge with 16 and 12 points respectively: 1 ace, 3 blocks and 60% in attack for the first one, 69% in attack, 1 block and MVP award for the second.
Last semifinalist is Toulouse, who sweep Saint Nazaire 3-0 (25:23, 25:23, 25:20) in a hard-fought game, above all in second set, in which they had to recover from a 12-16 gap, led by a great Nathan Feral, absolute top scorer of the game with 23 points to his name through 67% in attack, 3 winning blocks and 2 aces.
