Main Phase of 2024/25 Mevza League has been completed this week with last two games.
To the top of the standings ACH Volley Ljubljana with 12 points.
On Wednesday, they won at tie break the all-slovenian derby on the field of OK i-Vent Maribor – 2-3 (20:25, 25:19, 25:19, 17:25, 12:15) with 20 points from Luka Marovt, while Gustavo Cavalcanti and Miha Cafuta scored 23 and 20 points for the hosts. Today, in another game ended at tie break, they suffered a defeat on the field of Croatia’s HAOK Mladost Zagreb, 3-2 (25:19, 18:25, 25:18, 20:25, 15:13), suffering the hosts’ block (15 to 5).
Despite leading after the first and third sets, Mladost had to battle through a tie-break to clinch the win. With this victory, they secured second place in the standings, avoiding a semifinal clash with today’s rivals.
“This match was very important for us. We needed a tough game against a strong opponent like ACH. When you play with passion and emotion, you can beat even the best,” said Zagreb’s coach Radovan Gačić.
Đorđe Jovović led the winners with 22 points, followed by Spyridon Chandrinos (19) and Mario Močić (9). For Ljubljana, Amir Mohammad Golzadeh scored 25 points, while Klemen Šen added 16. This marks Ljubljana first MEVZA League loss this season, but they remain the top seed heading into the finals.
The Final Four lineup is now set: ACH Volley (1st), Mladost (2nd), SK Zadruga AICH/DOB (3rd), and OK i-Vet Maribor (4th). Ljubljana will face Maribor in the semis, while Mladost Zagreb takes on Zadruga AICH/DOB.
HAOK Mladost Zagreb has been chosen as the host of the 2025 MEVZA Final Four Tournament for both men’s and women’s teams!
The event will take place from March 4 to March 6, 2025, at Dom Odbojke Bojan Stranić in Zagreb.
