Denmark: Odense Volley crowned champions at first edition of Danish Men’s Super Cup!

Danish volleyball made history last weekend with the very first Men’s Super Cup, a new competition featuring every team from the national league that brought upsets, amazing performances and, at its end, a familiar winner with Odense Volley who lifted a domestic trophy once again.

From the start, the matches delivered great plays, with Hvidovre who shocked Gentofte with a clean 3–0 win, while Middelfart down ASV to secure a semifinal spot. Nordenskov also had a good performance after defrating Vestsjælland 3–1 to set up a showdown with Hvidovre.
In the semifinals, however, the favorites showed their experience, with Odense who trampled over Middelfart 3–0, led by outside hitter Sigurd Varming, almost unstoppable in attack.
On the other game, Nordenskov stunned Hvidovre 3–0 to be ready to fight for the crown.
The final lived up to expectations, with a strong start from Nordenskov, who even stole a set, but Odense’s experience, as well as Varming’s attack, made the difference. With a 3–1 victory, Odense confirmed their status as the dominant force in Danish volleyball.
