Welcome to the 35th episode of VolleyBar, the very first daily volleyball column to bring together all the biggest news of the day (everything you’ve seen popping up elsewhere is just an approximate imitation that came after us), as well as our final edition of the week.
We’ll be back as usual on Monday at 8:00 PM.

In EuroVolley U22, Czech Republic is first finalist after a 2-3 win after a comeback from 2-0 against Israel (25:21, 42:40, 20:25, 23:25, 9:15), despite 34 points from Shay Liberman (57% in attack and 2 blocks). Vaclav Seidl led Czech Republic with 32 (77% in attack and 2 aces).
The winners will face France or Poland, who will face each others this evening, while Israel will play again tomorrow for Bronze.

In France, French international libero Benjamin Diez is returning to Cannes exactly ten years after his previous spell with the club. He arrives from Italy, where he spent the last two seasons with Sonepar Padova.

In Poland, Patryk Łaba is staying with Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie!
The outside hitter, who has so often been Michał Winiarski’s secret weapon, will enter his fifth season with defending champions. Last season, he helped the club win their historic Polish Championship, finish as runners-up in the CEV Champions League, and claim the bronze medal at the FIVB Club World Championship.

ā€œThis will already be my fifth season in Zawiercie, and I’m very happy about that. We’ve shared so many unforgettable moments together, and I know there are still many more ahead of us. I can’t wait for the first match of the new season and for the incredible atmosphere created by the Jurassic Army,ā€ he said in the club’s official statement.

After two seasons, the opposite hitter Chizoba Eduardo Neves Atu is leaving Cuprum Stilon Gorzów. He joined the club on August 31, 2024, and immediately established himself as one of the team’s leaders. Over the past two years, he not only impressed with his scoring ability but consistently performed at the highest level, establishing himself among the best opposites in the PlusLiga.
His next chapter will take him to Japan. A few days ago, he was officially announced as a new player for Sakai Blazers.

In Italy, Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza has announced the signing of highly rated young outside hitter Manuel Zlatanov, who has signed a three-year contract with the club.
Born in Piacenza in 2008, Zlatanov came through the club’s youth academy before spending the last two seasons with Ravenna in Italy’s Serie A2.

These were his first words as a Piacenza player: ā€œI’m very happy to have signed with Piacenza, and I’m convinced I’ve made the right choice. It’s a solid club that continues to grow and truly believes in young players. Wearing this jersey again after coming through the club’s youth system means that all the hard work I’ve put in over the years has paid off. Two years ago, I left the academy, and now I’m back for a completely new experience with the first team. I can’t wait to get started.ā€

Ninni De Nicolo, Sporting Director of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza, added: ā€œWe’re delighted to have brought back a player from Piacenza who developed in our youth academy and, above all, one of the brightest prospects in Italian volleyball. For Manuel, this is a return to his roots, while for us it’s a source of great pride to welcome him back to the club. We’re confident he will make an important contribution to the team and repay the trust the club has placed in him with his performances on the court.ā€

Sam Deroo, who went through a very difficult period last season after successfully overcoming cancer and also recently became a father, is expected to move to the Turkish league for the upcoming season.
The experienced outside hitter, who has spent the past few seasons playing for Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in Russia, has been linked with a move to Halkbank or İstanbul GenƧlik SK, that is also in advanced talks with the Belgian outside hitter.
