In France, former Nice setter PĂŠpin Rajoharivelo, who was expected to play for Arago de Sète, will ultimately not join Sète next season. A last-minute disagreement between the club and the playerâs agent eventually led the clubâs management to abandon the deal.
In Austria, Moritz Bauer is a new player for UVC Holding Graz.
Next season, he will join thr club as a setter in the 1. Bundesliga.
The young player came through the Graz Volleyball Academy and has already played for the same club in the 2. Bundesliga. During his semester abroad in the United States, he was also able to gain valuable experience and broaden his horizons beyond Austrian volleyball.
Now itâs time for Moritz to return to the his homeland.
In Poland, Cuprum Stilon GorzĂłw have announced the signing of Igor Nurkiewicz, a 20-year-old middle blocker who spent last season representing Energa Trefl GdaĹsk, gaining experience in the PlusLiga, Polandâs top division. Standing at 203 cm, he possesses excellent physical attributes for the middle-blocker position and also has an impressive rĂŠsumĂŠ with Polandâs youth national teams, including a bronze medal at the U19 European Championship.
A new and important step now awaits him.
Meanwhile, Tytus Nowik joins ChKS CheĹm. The 23-year-old opposite spent last season with Lechia TomaszĂłw Mazowiecki, competing in the division immediately below Polandâs top flight. Previously, he also represented Astra Nowa SĂłl, Olimpia SulÄcin, Gwardia WrocĹaw and SMS PZPS SpaĹa.
The 2024/25 season was particularly successful for him at Astra Nowa SĂłl. In 26 matches, he scored 415 points, including 363 successful attacks, 25 aces and 27 blocks. He finished as his teamâs leading scorer and one of the standout players in the entire competition.
Also Nowik also boasts an impressive rĂŠsumĂŠ with Polandâs youth national teams. His biggest achievement came in 2021, when he helped Poland win the U19 World Championship. The opposite was subsequently named MVP of the entire tournament and also won the award for Best Attacker.
And now a little bit of International Volleyball.
USA opened Day 4 of Menâs Pan American Cup preliminary round cruising past Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 (25:13, 25:17, 25:14). In Pool A, USA and Canada will battle for a direct berth to semifinals, while Trinidad and Tobago will close pool-play against Puerto Rico. Jacob Pasteur and Kyle Hobus led the winners with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
On the same Pool, Puerto Rico keeps its hopes alive after defeating Costa Rica 3-0 (25:22, 25:21, 25:23) too with 20 points from Pedro Molina.
Meanwhile, dramatic finish in Pool B, with Dominican Republic who strengthens position with a 3-0 (25:18,25:23, 29:27) win over Curaçao.
Dominican Republic is 2-1 and will face Guatemala in their last Pool B match, while Curaçao concluded pool-play 0-4. Also in Pool B, Cuba survives Guatemala in five sets, 3-2 (25:23, 20:25, 28:30, 25:15, 19:17)
Guatemala 1-2 faces Dominican Republic 2-1 in decisive match tomorrow.
Daniel Martinez led Cuba with 26 points, while Jose Pablo PĂŠrez top-scored Guatemala with 22.
We close our episode with MichaĹ Kubiak who joins Ordu VK.
One of the first names that comes to mind when thinking about Polish volleyball is the one of this long-time captain of the Polish national team and a two-time World Champion in 2014 and 2018, MichaĹ Kubiak.
Winner of countless medals and individual awards at the biggest tournaments in the world will start a new chapter in Azerbaijan.
And Ordu VK have been building an ambitious roster through several important additions, strengthening different areas of the team with experienced and talented players. The clubâs new signings include italian legendary opposite Ivan Zaytsev, setters Axel Jacobsen, last season in Paris Volley and Joshua Retamar, Philippines international and one of the most promising young setters in Asia, Cuban outside hitter Salvador Hidalgo Oliva, Czech opposite Michal Finger and Brazilian middle blocker Maycon Leitte.
