The volleyball calendar of the future is beginning to take shape, and clubs are now officially part of the conversation.

As the FIVB continues its global consultation on the Volleyball Calendar 2029–2032, representatives of the FIVB Volleyball Leagues and Clubs Council have joined the process, adding the voice of one of the most important components of the modern volleyball ecosystem.

The development of the 2029–2032 calendar represents one of the key elements of the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, whose long-term ambition is to double the global volleyball community from approximately 800 million people to 1.6 billion.

Achieving that goal, however, requires more than simply drawing up a schedule of international competitions. The calendar must find a balance between national teams, clubs, leagues, players, coaches, federations and continental structures, while creating the conditions for the sport to continue growing at every level.

That is precisely why the consultation process has been designed to involve the different voices of the volleyball world.

During the latest meeting, representatives of the FIVB Volleyball Leagues and Clubs Council were presented with the concept currently under development. The session provided an opportunity to examine the proposals in detail, raise questions and discuss how a future calendar could better respond to the needs and challenges faced by clubs and leagues.

The discussion will not end with the meeting itself. Participants will receive the relevant materials concerning the proposed concept and will subsequently have the opportunity to submit written feedback. According to the FIVB, all contributions will be reviewed and considered as the project progresses.

The consultation has already involved the Continental Confederations, key leagues and National Federations responsible for leagues, while the inclusion of clubs marks another important step in the process.

The next stages will bring the discussion to the FIVB Athletes’ Commission, FIVB Coaches Commission and Volleyball Council, ensuring that the perspectives of those directly involved in different areas of the sport continue to be incorporated.

For volleyball, the stakes are significant. The international calendar has increasingly become one of the most delicate issues in the sport, with the demands of national-team competitions, club seasons, player workload and commercial interests all having to coexist within an increasingly crowded global schedule.

The FIVB says its objective is therefore clear: to listen, evaluate and build a calendar capable of working for the entire volleyball ecosystem.

Whether the final 2029–2032 calendar can achieve that balance remains to be seen. But with clubs now officially contributing to the discussion, another major piece of the volleyball puzzle has entered the room.

“Together as One” is the FIVB’s stated vision. The consultation process will now have to turn those words into a calendar that truly works for everyone.
