Tunisia reached the final of the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Championship after beating Morocco 3-1 (25:17, 20:25, 25:16, 25:12) in first semifinal in Tunis after one hour and 40 minutes of play, moving one win away from a 12th continental title.
Tunisia held a significant attacking advantage, recording 53 attack points to Morocco’s 37 and 10 winning blocks to five. The hosts outscored Morocco 95-70 overall.
Ali Bongui led the winners with a match-high 17 points, while Morocco’s Oussama El Azhari recorded 16. Oussama Ben Romdhane added 15 for Tunisia.
The championship carries major qualification implications, with the African title linked to a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, while the tournament’s three medalists are set to qualify for the 2027 Men’s World Championship.
Morocco will now turn its attention to the bronze-medal match.
In second semifinal, Cameroon defeated Algeria 3-1 (25:22, 25:16, 20:25, 25:23) to secure a place in the final too.
Cameroon took the first two sets 25-22 and 25-16 before Algeria responded by winning the third 25-20. Cameroon then edged a closely fought fourth set 25-23 to seal the match after one hour and 55 minutes of play.
Cameroon produced the stronger numbers in key areas, recording as many as 18 aces against Algeria’s six and 10 blocks to four. They also held a 40-31 advantage in attacking points.
Algeria’s Farouk Tizit led all scorers with 14 points, while Elie Badawe Djakode paced Cameroon with 13.
Stéphane Mbaihilamen added 10 points for the winners.
Cameroon will face hosts Tunisia in the final.
Both finalists have secured places at the 2027 World Championship in Poland, while Algeria and Morocco will contest the bronze medal and the remaining African berth.
