Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie came from behind to defeat PGE Projekt Warszawa 3–1 (18:25, 25:22, 25:17, 25:21) on Wednesday, securing a valuable victory in an early fixture from Round 11 of Poland’s TAURON Liga regular season. With their participation in the upcoming FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship requiring a rearrangement of the league schedule, the reigning Polish champions took the opportunity to collect three important points on the road.

Playing in front of their home supporters at Warsaw’s COS Torwar, the team from country’s capital made the stronger start. The hosts established control in the opening set, putting Zawiercie under pressure and capitalising on their opponents’ difficulties to find a consistent rhythm. Warszawa closed out the set 25–18, raising hopes of a significant result against the reigning national champions.
The visiting side, however, responded with the composure expected from a team accustomed to competing for major honours, and gradually improved their game and raised their level in the second set, where the contest became much more balanced. Warszawa remained in contention, but Zawiercie found the crucial points at the end of the set, winning 25–22 to level the match.
The third set marked a decisive shift in momentum. Zawiercie took greater control of the exchanges, combining more effective attacking play with increased pressure on the home side. Warszawa struggled to reproduce the level it had shown in the opener, allowing the visitors to build a clear advantage. Warta pulled away to win 25–17, moving within one set of victory.
Warszawa attempted to revive the contest in the fourth, but Zawiercie maintained its momentum and avoided allowing the match to return to a potentially dangerous closing stage. The visitors managed the decisive exchanges more effectively and completed the comeback with a 25–21 win, sealing a 3–1 victory after dropping the opening set.

The result represents an important response for Zawiercie following a challenging start to the season. The team had opened its league campaign with a surprising defeat against GKS Katowice before recovering with a win over ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The loss in the Polish Super Cup final against BOGDANKA LUK Lublin had added further pressure, making a positive performance against another leading contender particularly valuable.
Warszawa, meanwhile, will be disappointed not to have built on its strong opening set. After beginning the season with a victory over Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, the Warsaw side had already suffered a five-set defeat against PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów. Against Zawiercie, the hosts again showed their potential but were unable to sustain their initial level over the full match.
MVP Aaron Russell (48% in attack and 3 aces) and Kamil Rychlicki led the winners with 17 points each, while Tomasz Fornal added 11.

Tauron Liga will continue already tomorrow with the two advances of Round 3 will be played: Energa Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will welcome ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle while, in the evening, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów will back to the court against Energa Trefl Gdańsk.
