Turkish volleyball clubs are set to benefit from a significant financial change after the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) approved the removal of a 10 per cent deduction previously applied to certain categories of contractual revenue.
The amendment was discussed and adopted at the federation’s seventh regular financial general assembly, held in Ankara on November 4.
Under the revised wording of Article 37, Paragraph 1(e) of the TVF statute, the previous 10 per cent deduction has been reduced to zero.

The practical impact is straightforward.
A club receiving one million Turkish lira through a contract covered by the provision will now be able to retain the entire amount, rather than transferring 100,000 lira to the federation.
The measure applies to revenue generated through the television, radio and internet broadcasting of matches, agreements with media organisations and contracts concerning club equipment. It is therefore a targeted change, not a blanket exemption covering every source of income available to volleyball clubs.

Fenerbahçe was among the first clubs to welcome the decision, expressing its appreciation for the federation’s move and highlighting the importance of measures that strengthen the economic sustainability of club volleyball. The Istanbul-based organisation also pointed to the potential benefits for the competitiveness of Turkish teams.

The decision could have particular significance in a country where leading clubs operate with substantial budgets, recruit internationally recognised players and invest heavily in domestic and European competitions. Allowing them to retain a larger share of revenue from the contracts covered by the amendment provides additional financial flexibility and greater scope to allocate resources according to their priorities.
That flexibility could also support investment in sporting operations, player development and youth programmes, although the actual impact will depend on each club’s commercial agreements and financial structure.
According to the published amendment, the new provision takes effect from the date of its publication. By removing the previous deduction, the TVF has introduced a direct financial incentive for clubs while sending a positive signal about the importance of strengthening the economic foundations of Turkish volleyball.
