Austrian Defending Champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team, again were able to avoid their first defeat in 2023/24 Powerfusion Austrian Volley League regular season as, in a game valid for Round 16 played on Saturday evening staged a comeback on the field of TJ Sokol V/Post SV Vienna, who wasted 2-0 set led and suffered a 2-3 (25:22, 25:22, 18:25, 24:26, 13:15) defeat.
In the fourth set the hosts were ahead 23:20, but failed to close it.
VCA Amstetten NÖ caused a big upset against TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg. After two wins in the MEVZA League, they also won their third home game this week, by beating the second-placed team in their Johann-Pölz-Halle with the score of 3-1 (25:21, 19:25, 30:28, 25:22). The man of the match was undoubtedly Artem Skorokho, who closed the match with 31 points! Amstetten improved to eighth place and they can still dream the playoffs. Hartberg is now four points behind HYPO TIROL.
Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel and SK Zadruga Aich/Dob celebrated confident home victories.
The first one defeated last-placed VBC TLC Weiz 3-0 (25:21, 25:12, 25:23) despite several injuries, injured or injured, while last season’s runners-up Aich/Dob easily defeated VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt (25:14, 25:21, 25:15) in the Carinthia derby.
