Round 5 of 2024/25 Plusliga has been closed today with last two scheduled games.
GKS Katowice claimed their first win of the season, defeating Barkom-Każany Lwów with the score of 3-1 (25:18, 21:25, 25:15, 25:22).
Both sides had been struggling at the bottom of the standings, but GKS secured a much-needed victory, leaving today’s rivals as the only team without a win or a point this season.
Aymen Bouguerra led the winners with 22 points to his name, including 2 aces, 3 winning blocks, 63% in attack and MVP award, while Bartosz Gomułka also contributed with 15.
For Barkom, Vasyl Tupchii scored 21 points. Katowice dominated in attack, serving (8-4), and blocking (9-1).
In the evening, PGE Projekt Warszawa secured a 3-0 (25:15, 25:23, 25:19) victory over Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in a highly anticipated match to conclude the 5th round.
The team from country’s capital displayed an excellent performance, taking advantage of injuries to key rivals’ players Mateusz Bieniek and Bartosz Kwolek.
The standout players for the winners were Bartłomiej Bołądź, MVP of the match with 19 points to his name through 64% success rate in attacks, 2 aces, and 1 block, well supported by Kevin Tillie, who added 14, and Artur Szalpuk with 12.
On the losing side, Karol Butryn led Aluron with 15 points.
Warszawa outperformed the rivals in attack efficiency (62% to 43%), serves (8-4), and blocks (5-3).
