After an early advance played on September 18, Round 8 of 2024/25 Plusliga continued today with first two games.
In a tense battle, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów suffered their fifth defeat of the season, losing 2-3 (17:25, 25:23, 25:15, 28:30, 12:15) in front of their home fans to Steam Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa.
The match at Hala Podpromie was played at very high level, with Resovia taking a 2-1 lead after dropping the first set. However, they couldn’t capitalize on match points in the fourth set, losing 28-30. The tie-break went in favor of the visiting side, who secured their fifth win this season.
Top scorers included MVP Patrik Indra, who left the court with 28 points to his name through 56% in attack and 3 winning blocks for the winners, and Stephen Boyer (26 points including 6 of his team’s 9 aces, 46% in attack and 1 block) for Resovia.
In the evening, last season’s runners-up Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie easily trampled over Cuprum Stilon Gorzów by winning their game in a clear 3-0 (25:18, 25:16, 25:21), led by MVP Karol Butryn who left the court with 14 points including 3 aces and 65% in attack.
Round 8 will continue tomorrow with other two games: Jastrzębski Węgiel will welcome Trefl Gdańsk while, in the evening, BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will face ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
