Poland: 3 points for Warszawa and Resovia in advances of Round 8 and 4

After Round 1, completed on Tuesday, 2024/25 Plusliga continued today with other two games.
PGE Projekt Warszawa secured their second consecutive win of the season, defeating GKS Katowice 3-0 (25:23, 25:21, 25:16) in their 8th-round match played in advance. The team from country’s capital had also triumphed in their season opener, beating ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in straight sets too, while Katowice lost to newcomers MKS Będzin in their first match.
To make the difference today was the performance in blocking, with 10 points from this element (5 for the visiting side), and the excellent performance of MVP Jakub Kochanowski, author of 10 points including 1 block, 2 aces and 88% in attack (7/8).
The most prolific player of the match, as well as the only player in double digit on the losing side, was Kisiluk Yevhenii with 13 points and 1 ace but with only 39% in attack.
Asseco Resovia Rzeszów kicked off the new season with a solid 1-3 (25:27, 21:25, 25:17, 20:25) win on the field of Barkom Każany Lwów in a match played in advance for the 4th round. The match, held in Tarnów, marked Resovia’s league opener after their initial game against PSG Stal Nysa was postponed due to flooding in southern Poland.
Klemen Cebulj was named MVP of the game leaving the court with 16 points to his name through 50% in attack, 1 block and 3 aces.
Märt Tammeauru was the most prolific player of the match with 19 points (62% in attack, 1 block and 2 aces) in Barkom’s jersey.
Plusliga will continue on Friday with the advance of second Round: in the evening, BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will face Trefl Gdańsk.
