Trefl Gdańsk staged a sensational comeback to defeat PSG Stal Nysa PSG Stal Nysa – Trefl Gdańsk 2-3 (25:21, 25:17, 22:25, 26:28, 8:15) on the road. After losing the first two sets, the team under the command of Mariusz Sordyl delivered an amazing performance, clawing their way back and destroying the hosts in a dramatic tie-break.
The match began with PSG Stal Nysa dominating the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-17, led by great performances from Michał Gierżot and Remigiusz Kapica, who both scored 21 points at the end of the match. However, the rivals refused to back down and, with a standout effort from Aliaksei Nasevich, who left the court with 25 points to his name, regained the control of the game, edging the third and fourth sets, 25-23 and 28-26, in nail-biting finishes before completely outclassing Stal Nysa in the decisive tie-break, 15-8. Key contributions also came from Piotr Orczyk with 15 points and Paweł Pietraszko, who added 12.
In the evening, away win also for Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, who claimed a 1-3 (19:25, 18:25, 25:20, 21:25) victory on the field of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, propelling them to the second position in the league standings, at least until tomorrow.
The winners showcased dominance in three of the four sets, with Aaron Russell leading the charge with 20 points to his name. Olsztyn managed to secure the third set but couldn’t sustain the momentum against a more consistent rival.
Round 22 will continue tomorrow with other three games: Asseco Resovia Rzeszów will face PGE Projekt Warszawa, leaders and defending champions Jastrzębski Węgiel will welcome Cuprum Stilon Gorzów while, in the evening, BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will face last-placed GKS Katowice.
