Coppa Italia: inedited final is Itas Trentino – Rana Verona! Piacenza and Perugia eliminated

Itas Trentino and Rana Verona advanced to the Del Monte® Coppa Italia SuperLega final after two very different semifinal successes at a sold-out Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno, Bologna.
In the first semifinal, Trento edged Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza after a dramatic 3–2 (25:21, 16:25, 23:25, 25:22, 15:11) in a tightly contested match, which also marks two great returns in both sides: Daniele Lavia back to the court after several month of absence while, for Piacenza, the return of middle blocker Gianluca Galassi after testicular cancer!
Théo Faure led the charge for the winners scoring with 24 points through 58% in attack and 3 aces, supported by Alessandro Bristot who added 15, while Piacenza’s Alessandro Bovolenta tallied 23 points.
For Itas Trentino this will be 10th Italian Cup final in club’s history, and they’ll try to take a title they’ve already won three times: the most recent one on December 30th 2012 at Assago’s Forum (3-1 over Macerata), but previously also on February 19th 2012 in Rome (3-2 always over Macerata) and on January 31 2019 at Montecatini Terme (3-1 over Cuneo).
In final, they’ll face Rana Verona, who literally destroyed a disappointing Sir Susa Vim Perugia 3–0 (25:19, 25:21, 25:19), delivering a composed and physical performance throughout the game. Noumory Keita led all scorers for Verona with 17 points, while Darlan Souza added 13. Perugia were led by Wassim Ben Tara, who finished with 13 points in a heavy loss.
Verona reach the Coppa Italia final for the second consecutive season as they continue their search for a first major title, and the final act of the competition is scheduled tomorrow starting at 18.00 Local Time.
Interestingly, Trento boasted their partecipation in Coppa Italia Final Four for 17 editions in a row!
