After the amazing semifinal win and the consequent elimination of Sir Susa Scai Perugia, the team around head coach Fabio Soli writes its name for first time after 48 years of competition’s history with a stunning 0-3 (21:25, 22:25, 20:25) also over italian champions Itas Trentino.
A title with the signature of head coach Fabio Soli himself!
In first set Verona started strong, just like in yesterday’s semifinal: 64% of team performance in attack, while the rivals stopped at 42%, and Darlan who closed with 4 points through 80%.
More balanced was the second set, with lot of turns and the two teams who fought points after points. Despite Noumory Keita played below his levels, only at 22% efficiency, smashed two decisive aces of 0-2.
Third set was one-sided, with Verona who immediately took the lead at 1-7 and, never looking back, closed with a clean 20-25.
Noumory Keita left the court as top scorer with 15 points to his name through 44% in attack seasoned with 3 aces, Darlan added 12 through an impressive 71% in attack, Rok Mozic with 9. On the other side of the net, 13 points from Theo Faure and 10 with the signature of Jordi Ramon.
For Rana Verona, founded only in 2021, it was first historical title, caressed already last season in first ever final played, in which they were defeated at tie break by Cucine Lube Civitanova.
Trento, on the other hand, keep fasting, unable to take an Italian Cup since 2013, even if this is the only club always present to Final Four since 2010!
Micah Christenson, earned MVP honors of the Final Four.
Nearly a decade after his first Coppa Italia triumph, the American setter delivered another masterclass, guiding Verona’s offense with calm, authority and sharp decision-making.
