Italy: Perugia defeat Piacenza in recovery of Round 11

In recovery match of Superlega CredemBanca Round 24 (Round 11 of second leg) Sir Safety Conad Perugia defeat Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza by 3-1 (25:18, 19:25, 29:27, 25:20).
Without starting setter Giannelli and Travica on the court, but with recovery of libero Colaci, this was the 19th success for the winners in 21 matches played. For Piacenza, on the other hand, back with two outside hitters in starting six, Recine and Rossard, with Russell from second in place of Frenchman, and Stern as opposite, this was the eleventh defeat in a season below expectations.

First two sets equally divided: in first Perugia played a great match in attack, and the second one with the rivals superb in blocking, with 5 points from this element. Third very very very balanced and, basically, the decisive one win from the hosts who, after a conspicuous 16-12 advantage, suffered Piacenza’s comeback until 21-21, to close the partial 29-27 with an error from Recine in attack and Travica, from the second line.
In fourth set the hosts had a great start, 7-2 with a winning block, and they managed to keep the lead until the end, with Rychlicki who closed the game with the attack of 25-20.
In attack, in fact, Perugia was better: 51% against 41% from the rivals.
MVP of the match setter Dragan Travica, author also of 8 points, and double digit for Leon (17), Anderson (14) and Rychlicki (16 with 3 blocks). Great also libero.Colaci, back on the field after injury, with 53% in reception and excellent in defense.
