Turkey: Halkbank prevail over Ziraat in big match to reach 21-0 and the others of Round 21

Other four matches of 2021/22 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi Round 21 were played today.

Halkbank remained untouchable in the competition even after 21 matches, and today they beat titleholders Ziraat Bankkart in the ’bankalar derbisi’ (the bank’s derby, as both teams are owned and got their names by banking companies) with a score of 3-1 (25:18, 25:19, 18:25, 25:18).
Moreover, the Ankara side has 12 points more than the closest pursuers, Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta and Ziraat (60 and 48).
And, given that only 5 rounds remained in the regular season, Halkbank secure the first place for playoffs.
Argentine Nicolás Bruno and Cuban Fernando Hernández scored 14 points each for Halkbank, with the former who had 79% reception (14 digs, 57% perfect) and 71% attack (12/17).

Ziraat is also overtaken in the current standings (for set quotient) from Fenerbahce, who trampled over Bursa BBSK leaving just 50 points to the hosts. With the arrival of Marouf the coach Castellani’s side seems to have found the right rhythm.
At the bottom of the standings the salvation duel is won by Tokat who, despite a non-excellent Wendt (on the bench in the decisive set) defeats Solan led by outside-hitters Alison Melo and Hacioglu at the tie-break.
Galatasaray’s 3-1 over Cizre closes the picture (without Torres, but with Sedlacek back in to register good numbers).
