Vero Volley Monza won the first trophy in their club history, the 2022 CEV Volleyball Cup.
This was the second European final for the Italian team, after the one against Belgorod in CEV Challenge Cup 2019.
In front of 3,500 amazing fans of their rivals Tours VB, the italian side put their hands on the competition after a 3-0 victory in the first leg of the final, and two sets were enough today for the guys coached by Massimo Eccheli in the rematch to bring the 2nd-strongest ranked European cup home.
Tours had a chance only in the first set, wasting a 4-point lead, but that was all regarding the resistance from the French side, as Monza triumphed again with a score of 3-0 (26:24, 25:18, 25:18).
Belarusian Uladzislau Davyskiba top-scored the SuperLega side with 16 points and 63% in attack, and was named MVP of the match.
Marcelo Fronckowiak, Head Coach of Tours VB: “Well done Monza. I’m still proud of our performance. We must now raise our heads for the next stage.”
György Grozer, Opposite for Vero Volley Monza: “We are back from hell. The audience was amazing. The team did great job mentally. We deserve the gold medal!”
