3 min read
Game 1 of Superliga Semifinals were played on the European night.
In first match scheduled, No.2 in regular season Sada Cruzeiro risked a resounding home defeat against No.3 Sesi SP. Club world champions, after a good first set, wasted the second from 24-21 to 26-28. With a great merit of Sesi, led by very good setter, Brasilia, as well as Darlan (20 points, 55% and 33% efficiency in attack) and Biriguì (20 points too, 57% and 40% efficiency in attack), match remain balanced also in third set, ended 25-22 in favor of the hosts, and in fourth in which Sada Cruzeiro suffered 3 points in a row, from 23-22 to 23-25. In decisive fifth set the guests even fly to 1-6, but Sada’s reaction, led by MVP Lopez (25 points, 67% and 42% efficiency in attack) in attack and Otavio in blocking (4-6 and 7-7) was unstoppable. The same Otavio then created the decisive break with the aces of 9-8 and 11-8 (with a counterattack from Rodriguinho in the middle) and, after the full advantage signed by Wallace, 14-10, match definitely ended with an error from the service line by Biriguì.
In the other match soliloquy of regular season leaders Minas, who destroy No.4 Guarulhos with a clear 3-0. Setter William (3 aces and again a very good performance in his role) and his teammates always conducted the game, led by opposite Sanchez Bozhulev. The Cuban, again on the field in place of Vissotto, put down 21 points with 69% and 62% efficiency in attack.
