Poland: Olsztyn close to make an upset, but Bełchatów advance to semifinals!

PGE Skra Bełchatów defeated Indykpol AZS Olsztyn 3-2 (29:27, 23:25, 25:19, 22:25, 15:13) in the Game 3 of the 2021/22 Polish PlusLiga quarter-finals to advance to the semi-finals of the competition.

Thus, the name of the third Top-4 participant became known after regular season leaders Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie. The Bełchatów side, who ended regular season in 3rd place, was the favorite of the pairing given it had the No.6 as opponents. However, they lost the first match at home and then dominated the second on the road.
Today, after a fantastic match to their home soil, they were slightly better.

After a very balanced start, first break in fifth set bear the signature of Olsztyn, 6-8 with a net touch from Kooy revealed by videocheck. A winning block from Poreba on the same Kooy marks another point for the guests, but then Poreba himself is blocked from Klos for the point of 9-10, and an error in attack from Butryn leveled the score, 10-10. Bełchatów surpasses with Ebadipour, 13-12, with a defense on DeFalco who put down the ball with a counterattack.
Another defense on the same DeFalco is worth another counterattack, which bear the signature of MVP Atanasijevic, 14-12, and Ebadipour definitely close the game 15-13.

Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević was on very high level, scoring 28 points (51% and 33% efficiency in attack) including 5 aces, for the winners, while Mateusz Bieniek had 14 points and 92% attack (11/12), despite he left the field for a little injury, and Kacper Piechocki made 70% reception (33 digs, 1 error, 42% perfect).
