Poland: Jastrzębski destroy Gdańsk in Game 3 to become last semifinalist

2 min read

Jastrzębski Węgiel clearly won the 3rd and decisive duel against Trefl Gdańsk for the ticket to the semi-finals of the 2021/22 Plusliga playoffs.
The 2nd-seed Jastrzębski thus retained the chance to defend the title, and in the semifinals of the competition they will face No.3 PGE Skra Bełchatów.

The match in Jastrzębie-Zdrój was to determine the last participant in the Top-4, and it turned out that it was a clash dominated by the hosts, who trampled over the rivals with a clear 3-0 (25:17, 25:16, 25:18).
They came out on the court very determined from the first actions and easily gained a cospicuous lead in each set.
No. 7 Trefl sensationally prevailed in the first match of the series, but the titleholders presented themselves as a much better side in the next two, winning them both in straight sets. Today, with 3 players scoring the same number of points, 12: Czech Jan Hadrava, Tomasz Fornal, and Rafał Szymura, named MVP of the match
All numbers, though, in favor of the winners: 60% and 46% efficiency in attack vs. 38% and only 7% of Gdańsk, 4 aces and 13 errors vs. 2 aces and 12 errors, and 11 blocks vs. 5.

So, Jastrzębski will face Skra in the semis, while regular season leaders Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and No.4 Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie make the other pairing.
