By beating Chaumont in four exciting sets (19:25, 25:23, 21:25, 28:30), Montpellier won the 2022 French Super Cup (Super Coupe 2022), the first in club’s history.

The reigning French champions prevailed over the match hosts after a breathtaking fourth set (30-28). Olivier Lecat’s guys needed five match points to down the rivals, relying on a great Ezequiel Palacios (25 points, including 4 aces and 2 winning blocks and 66% in attack), who had just returned from the World Championship where he defended the colors of Argentina.
His teammate, Théo Faure, Montpellier’s second-best scorer tonight with 15 points, was named MVP of the game. The Czech Patrik Indra, scored 13 points (63% in attack) on the losing side.
