Champions League: all results of November 29! What happened today?

After a Pool D games played yesterday in which last season runners-up Jastrzebski Węgiel defeated Jihostroj České Budejovice, 2023/24 CEV Champions League continued today with other 7 games.
On the same Pool, Guaguas Las Palmas (ESP) – SVG Lüneburg (GER) 1-3 (20:25, 23:25, 25:21, 20:25) while, in Pool A, Turkey’s Ziraat Bankkart scored a hard-fought victory against the reigning three-time champions, Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle from Poland, with the score of 3-2 (26:24, 25:22, 18:25, 19:25, 15:12)
The Ankara side showcased remarkable resilience and skill in an intense volleyball encounter, as they secured the first two sets, but the Polish squad reacted, until a well-deserved tie-break. In a nail-biting finish, Ziraat Bankkart clinched the match, with a series of impressive serves from MVP Matt Anderson.
The same player was the most prolific player for the winners with 23 points, followed by Bedirhan Bulbul (17), Wouter ter Maat (15), and Oreol Camejo (10). On the Polish side, Łukasz Kaczmarek topped with 27 points, with Bartosz Bednorz added 21 and Aleksander Śliwka also contributed with 13.
The intense battle lasted 133 minutes!
With this win, Ziraat Bankkart maintains a perfect record in the Champions League.
In another Champions League Pool A match in Greece, Belgium’s Knack Roeselare overcame hosts Olympiacos in straight sets, with scores of 19:25, 20:25, 19:25.
Asseco Resovia Rzeszów secured a victory in Champions League Pool B match, defeating ACH Volley Ljubljana 3-0 (25:21, 25:23, 25:21). This win marks Asseco Resovia’s first in this edition of the Champions League, recovering from their initial four-set defeat to Tours VB.
In a packed Tivoli Arena in Ljubljana with over 4,000 spectators, the Slovenian team faced a challenging match against a favorite rivals and, despite a good performance, succumbed to a 0-3 defeat, marking their second defeat in as many games in the competition.
In another match of the same Pool, Itas Trentino achieved their second three-point victory in the Champions League group stage, overcoming Tours 1-3 (17:25, 22:25, 25:23, 19:25). The Italian champions demonstrated their superiority in serving and blocking, with Alessandro Michieletto who close the match as the top scorer with 20 points. The match was marked by Trentino’s dominance in the first and fourth sets, while the middle sets were more closely contested.
In an exciting Pool C game, Halkbank Ankara triumphed over the Berlin Recycling Volleys.
The intense match saw the Germans fight, even securing two match points in the fourth set, but they ultimately succumbed to Halkbank with a score of 2-3 (25:19, 21:25, 25:19, 27:29, 10:15).
The match started with both teams displaying a very good play. However, notable moments like Nimir Abdel-Aziz’s ace and Saso Stalekar’s block were decisive. The German champions, led by Hannes Tille’s block against Gordon Perrin, eventually gained momentum.
Other exciting actions included Timothée Carle surprising Earvin N’Gapeth with a serve, Timo Tammemaa’s block on Abdel-Aziz and subsequent aces that sealed the first set for Berlin (25-19).
Halkbank responded strongly, marking their presence with a series of kill blocks. Despite close scores, the Turkish team’s blocking prowess was decisive to win the second set (21-25).
The hosts, however, regained control in the third set with effective double blocks and a great play by setter Tille, and they maintained their lead, winning the set (25-19).
The fourth set was great, with both teams at their best. Carle’s backcourt play and Tammemaa’s ace brought the Berlin team to the brink of victory. However, Halkbank showed a great resilience, snatching the set (29-27).
In the tiebreak, despite a brief shift in momentum following Cody Kessel’s substitution by coach Joel Banks, Halkbank dominated, sealing their victory with a clear 15-10.
Close the picture the victory of Belgium’s Greenyard Maaseik in Romania, on the field of C.S. Arcada Galati with the score of 1-3 (20:25, 25:23, 17:25, 23:25) in Pool E.
