Champions League: Ziraat and Civitanova open third week with victories in Pool A and Pool E

CEV CHAMPIONS LEAGUE / ΟΛΥΜΠΙΑΚΟΣ - ΖΙΡΑΤ (ΓΙΩΡΓΟΣ ΜΑΤΘΑΙΟΣ / EUROKINISSI)
Third week of 2023/24 CEV Champions League started today with first two games.
In Pool A, Ziraat Bank Ankara keep their unbeaten streak in with Wouter Ter Maat’s 23 points after a 1-3 (18:25, 25:20, 20:25, 22:25) victory on the field of Olympiacos Piraeus. Dutch ooposite played a crucial role in this win with 18 points in attacks through 75%, 2 blocks, and 3 aces, earning also the MVP title.
Despite Olympiacos’ efforts, led by Salvador Hidalgo Oliva with 21 points, Ziraat Bank consistency and Ter Maat’s great performance sealed their victory.
In the second match of the day, Cucine Lube Civitanova claimed their third consecutive straight-set victory in as many games in Pool E against Greenyard Maaseik.
The match saw high-level performances from both teams, but Lube’s Aleksandar Nikolov and Adis Lagumdzija were the decisive, contributing 20 and 19 points respectively. Luciano De Cecco was awarded as MVP of the game played in Belgium, ended with the score of 0-3 (22:25, 25:27, 24:26).
