2 min read
It was a good start for Projekt Warszawa in Final of 2023/24 CEV Challenge Cup, as they beat Italy’s Mint Vero Volley Monza in their Poland with the score of 3-1 (25:18, 21:25, 25:18, 25:19) in first leg.
Monza started strong in first set, 2-8 and then 5-11, able to keep the lead until 8-12 before suffering the rivals’ comeback. Canadians Eric Loeppky (14 points including 1 ace, 1 block and 52% in attack) and Arthur Szwarc (16 points through 57% in attack) were enough against the team third-placed in Plusliga, today with 3 players in double digit: middle blocker Yurii Semeniuk, MVP of the match with 12 points including 2 aces, 3 winning blocks and 58% in attack, Kevin Tillie and Linus Weber, who added 13 each.
Good also Artur Szalpuk, despite a bad start but decisive in the final of the game.
Second leg is scheduled in Italy on Tuesday, with Monza forced to win the game 3-0 o or 3-1 and then also an eventual Golden Set.
