Austria: defending champions Hypo Tirol equalize 1-1 the semifinal series with Aich/Dob

The second Powerfusion Austrian Volley League semi-final duel between defending champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team and SK Zadruga Aich/Dob also ended with a home win, as the Innsbruck team prevailed 3-1 (25:23, 25:18, 24:26, 26:24) in their USI Hall on Wednesday evening to equalize the “best-of-5” series. Game 3 takes place in a week, with HYPO TIROL who will have the home advantage again.
Aich/Dob will play in the MEVZA League Final4 at the JUFA Arena Bleiburg at the weekend, and their first rival will be OK Merkur Maribor on Saturday.
Last week, HYPO TIROL suffered its first seasonal defeat with the score of 2-3.
This time, head coach Stefan Chrtiansky’s team set was better first two sets, but Aich/Dob came back in the third and were able to re-open the game. The fourth set was also played on very high level,
but this time the home team was able to close the game at second match point after two hours of play.
Top scorers of the day were Luan Weber (26), Arthur Nath and Niklas Kronthaler (14 each) for the winners, and Bryan Camino Martinez (20), Kristof Horvath (14) and Angelos Mandilaris (11) for Aich/Dob.
The second powerfusion VL Men semi-final series begins tomorrow, and TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg will welcome Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel.
