Slovenia: Danijel Koncilja positive to cannabis

Slovenian club ACH Volley Ljubljana has announced that it has unilaterally terminated the contract with middle blocker Danijel Koncilja, who tested positive in an anti-doping test after the Slovenian Cup semi-final played last March 6, lost against Maribor.
The banned substance Carboxy THC, the active ingredient of cannabis, better known as “marijuana”, was found in the sample analyzed by the anti-doping agency.
The club immediately distanced itself from the player by affirming the principle of “zero tolerance” on the issue of doping.
Danijel Koncilja, 33 years old, has a long career behind him in the main European competitions, which also took him to Austria, where he played for Aich/Dob, then to Italy with the jersey of Padova in the 2016/17 season, and to France, where in played two seasons in Nice and three in Cannes, where he also won the title.
With Slovenia National Team he reached the final of the 2015 European Championships and won bronze in Rome in the last edition, while on his home soil he boasts a title, a Slovenian Cup and a MEVZA League with ACH Volley Ljubljana.
