2 min read

In an unexpected final act of 2023/24 Marmara Spike League, No. 7 in regular season Saint Nazaire, after an outstanding playoffs path, eliminating Coupe de France and No.2 Nantes, and then also Tourcoing, down defending champions Tours with the score of 3-1 (25:17, 21:25, 25:17, 25:17).
In a well-deserved victory, to make the difference was an impressive performance in blocking, with the winners’ scoring 13 points from this element (6 only for top scorer and MVP Jordan Ewert, who left the court with 22 points to his name through 55% in attack) compared to Tours’ only 5.
Decisive also the contribution of Kyle Ensing, with 17 points to his name with 2 aces, 2 blocks and 55% in attack, and Helder Mendes Spencer, who added 12, with 4 blocks and as many as 89% in attack (8/9).
Tours, on the other hand, suffered the bad day of their bomber Aboubacar Drame Neto, who left the court with 12 points but with only 34% in attack (with 5 errors and blocked 7 times) and newcomer Luciano Palonsky, who left the court with 3 points on 15 attempts, with only 20% in attack, and could count only on Michael Parkinson, decisive also in their winners against regular season winners Chaumont in semifinals. For the Dutch, 13 points including 4 winning blocks and 69% in attack.
Decisive Game 2 on the field of titleholders on Saturday, starting from 7pm Local Time.
