VNL 2024: Week 2 started on Tuesday – all results!

The Polish volleyball team started the second tournament of the Volleyball Nations League with a strong performance in Fukuoka, Japan, defeating Bulgaria with the score of 3-1 (21:25, 25:21, 25:19, 25:18).
The European champions were briefly challenged in the first set but ultimately dominated the match.
The players around head coach Nikola Grbić faced a talented Bulgaria focused on building for the 2028 Olympic Games but, despite taking the first set 25-21, Poland responded by winning the next three sets without major problems, led by Tomasz Fornal, Bartosz Kurek, and Łukasz Kaczmarek.
In the first match of the day in Fukuoka, Brazil literally destroyed Germany with a 0-3 (15:25, 16:25, 15:25) score. Similarly, Japan secured a clean 0-3 (23:25, 22:25, 17:25) victory against Iran in the tournament’s third match held in Japan.
In Ottawa, USA beat Argentina with the score of 0-3 (23:25, 21:25, 24:26) after a hard-fought battle, while Pool hosts Canada needed four sets to defeat Cuba, 3-1 (25:21, 25:27, 25:20, 28:26).
USA’s game marked the first appearance of the team under head coach John Speraw set to represent the country at the Paris Olympic Games.
Outside hitters Aaron Russell and Torey Defalco led the winners with 13 points each, while opposite Matt Anderson also contributed with 12. Argentina’s Bruno Lima was the match top scorer with 15 points.
