Something new happened in European volleyball, as Roko Sikirić has been elected new President of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) for the 2024/2028 term.
The election, held on August 24th at the iconic Castel Nuovo in Naples, Italy, saw delegates from 51 National Federations, with two represented by proxy, cast their votes in favor of the former professional player, who secured 36 votes in the second round. He now steps into the role with a clear vision and a strong commitment to advancing the sport across the continent.
“This is a great responsibility, and I am deeply honored to lead the CEV. I want to thank everyone for their trust and support, and I promise to give my all in this role, just as I did throughout the campaign,” he said, acknowledging the achievements of his predecessor, Aleksandar Boričić.
His election is seen as a fresh start for European volleyball, with his focus on innovation and progress.
He has already announced his chosen team for the CEV Board of Administration, including Clodagh Nic Canna (Ireland), Ivan Knezevic (Serbia), and Leonel Salgueiro (Portugal), all of whom bring new energy and substantial experience to the table.
The General Assembly ratified these selections with overwhelming support.
Six additional board members were also elected, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise from several countries.
Roko Sikirić’s election marks a new era for the CEV, filled with optimism and the promise of continued success for volleyball across Europe.
